Suffering Temporary Workers
Recession attacked some temporary workers. They are facing a crisis of losing both their jobs and homes at once.
The temporary workers who signed up with a temporary agency were dispatched to distant factories. Once they are laid off, they are forced to leave the apartment, too, which is prepared by the temporary agency.
The number of temporary workers had increased in a ten-year recession triggered by the burst of the economic bubble in 1990. Throughout the 1990s, companies had been curving new recruits and many new graduates just had to be temporary workers. As of 2009, the temporary workers constitute 1/3 of workers in their 20s and 30s. To make things worse, most of them are NOT eligible for unemployment insurance.
